Despite the endless roadblocks from the city of Jaffrey, this year's Live Free or Die Rally went off with a bang. Organizers Mike Coutu and Dick Olson have gone head to head with Jaffrey officials since the Rally's inception in 2006. From being denied city permits to being taken to court over firearms issues, Coutu and Olson have leaped over all hurdles the city has tried to place in their way, and still managed to pull off some spectacular events.
This year's Rally took place at the Grand View Inn. It featured Revolutionary War artillery from Captain Morrill's Revolutionary Artillery Company and an Appleseed Project rifle shoot. Coutu billed the event as the only true free speech rally in the nation. All types of speakers were welcome. The speakers ranged from 9/11 truthers to state representatives to Patriot Pastors. Attendees camped at the Inn grounds and enjoyed live music and fireworks.
Next year's LFOD Rally will be held August 20 - 22, 2010.
