Horse Thieves in New Hampshire

By Kat Kanning

The SPCA's Stephen Sprowl, along with a Deerfield vet and police from 3 towns raided a Candia home on Monday and took 12 horses. They blocked off the road and moved in horse trailers with covered license plates, which is illegal in NH. The Travis family was disarmed and forced out of their home for two hours during a snowstorm, so their horses could be stolen. Several people involved in the theft hid their faces and refused to identify themselves during the raid. (See earlier story, SPCA Joins Police State)

The horse owner, Brian Travis, explained the situation,

The State of New Hampshire vs. Freestaters

By Kat Kanning

The number of court cases involving Freestaters have skyrocketed this year. Some cases were initiated by intentional civil disobedience, some as the result of Freestaters just wanting to be left alone, as long as they aren't hurting anyone.

Andrew Carroll will be arraigned on 3/3 in Keene for his marijuana civil disobedience. Carroll intentionally possessed a tiny amount of marijuana, while himself not being a user, to demonstrate how idiotic drug laws are. (See Activist Arrested for Plant Possession http://newhampshirefreepress.com/?q=node/306) Ian Freeman has been threatened with imprisonment for promoting this event on his radio show, Free Talk Live, http://freetalklive.com. Libertarians Attend PiMP Training

By Kat Kanning

In the 1940s, the Congress for Racial Equality began holding training sessions for nonviolent civil rights demonstrators. Training sessions focused on how to remain nonviolent during often heated interactions with the police. These types of training sessions continue today, used by peace activists and other nonviolent protesters to gain valuable skills in dealing with the potentially violent situations encountered when resisting an armed authority figure. Now, libertarians in New Hampshire have their own stripe of nonviolent resistance training.

Begun by Mike Barskey of Derry, PiMP (Practice Makes Perfect) training offers libertarian activists roleplaying sessions for various types of encounters with law enforcement.

Here is what they said before their epic journey:

"The start of the Walk For Liberty is almost upon us! On April 14, my wife Brooke, my brother John, and I will start the Walk For Liberty from Seaside, OR. I’m going to be starting the walk right from the water, and will walk all the way across the country to the seacoast of New Hampshire.

Drug Law Protest

Young Man to Possess Marijuana as a Protest Against Current Drug Laws

KEENE, NEW HAMPSHIRE – A young, 18 year old man will purposefully possess marijuana to incite his own arrest. At 1:00 PM on January 10,at 82 Main Street in Keene, New Hampshire, J. Andrew Carroll will illegally be in possession of marijuana as a protest against the drug
laws of the country.

Echoing the thoughts of other liberty-loving people, Carroll says, “The drug war is an unconstitutional and inhumane breach of individual liberties which claims many victims, and dollars, each year.” Carroll claims he wants to “demonstrate the absurdity of putting a human being in jail for a crime with no victim.” He says the point is further demonstrated by the fact that he does not, personally, smoke marijuana, and only intends to possess it.

Walk For Liberty Nears Completion

By Kat Kanning

Note: Border event delayed until Sunday December 14th, 11 am.

Will Buchanan and his wife, Brooke left Cannon Beach, Oregon for New Hampshire on April 14th. Will has walked all the way from the Pacific Coast in order to promote the idea of limited government. Brooke at times has walked with her husband, but has mostly acted as the faithful sidekick, driving the RV the couple camped out in, being the resourceful greasemonkey keeping their RV running, and generally keeping the project going. Will's brother John also accompanied the couple for part of the trip, doing some of the film editing.

Each day Will has made a video of his trip. These videos are available on his blog at http://walkforliberty.com. If you want a primer on libertarianism and its interaction with the real world, watch these videos. As an added bonus, you can enjoy the stunning scenery – America on foot.

Is Ryan going to jail?

By Ryan McGuire
posted at EnigmaCurry.com

I've come to the realization that I will be going to jail in the near future. Not for hurting anyone, but because the oppressive and unconstitutional powers that be see me as an Enemy of the State and an affront to their illegitimate power.

Two friends of mine have recently been thrown in jail. Neither of them have harmed, had any intention of harming, nor even inconvenienced, anyone. Their "crimes" are for having "contempt" for the state-funded thugs that wish to bully them into compliance with their procedures. Their only "crime" is that they had some questions, questions that the state did not want to hear.
