Flag Burning, Revolution, and Secession
Fri, 11/28/2008 - 12:17 — katkanningThis letter is in reference to your article “Activist Plans to Burn US Flag Nov. 3rd” and Ryan Young's letter from Reno, NV, “Regarding Burning the US Flag in Keene” Both article and letter appeared in the New Hampshire Free Press (October 2008).
I, for one, wish to congratulate “Jesse” Maloney, 21, of Keene, NH [who, after announcing his valid reasons] plans to burn a US flag just prior to the election on Monday, Nov. 3rd at 2:00pm in Central Square, Keene.
Our Once Great Republic Now Fascist
Thu, 11/13/2008 - 08:01 — katkanningIt was Thomas Jefferson who said:
"The issue today is the same as it has been throughout all history,
whether man shall be allowed to govern himself or be ruled by a small elite."
"As General Motors goes (to $0.00 a share), so goes the nation"
Tue, 11/11/2008 - 07:57 — katkanningThe famous analogy of the health of american business to america's future has never been more appropriate. As GM goes into complete and final bankruptcy, kept alive merely as a government controlled shell for union workers to continue making products no one wants, so will America go under our new marxist leader and congress.

I encourage you all to deal with this catastrophe the way I am - I've stopped spending for anything but absolute necessities. No more dining out, attending events, movies, buying anything. No more travel or vacations. I'll just stay home and drink (cheap) beer. This should make the recession into a depression if we all work together, and since the democrat supporting media love reporting on how terrible the economy is anyway, let's give them more to work with.
Old Glory and Finding the Cost of Freedom
Mon, 11/03/2008 - 09:07 — katkanningI opened up a Washington, D.C.-based publication recently to an article that featured a United States Citizenship ceremony. It was uplifting to see pictures of beaming faces of those born elsewhere who view their newly received citizenship as an entitlement and not an embarrassment as the flag burning activist “Jesse” clearly does.
Today I was skimming the NH Free Press and came upon an ungrateful punk spouting his discourse on the costliness of the abhorrent institution behind Election Day, and dissatisfaction with not being able to “opt out of the system”.
God Bless America?
Thu, 10/30/2008 - 02:46 — katkanningHow can any leader in this country end a speech by saying "God bless America", or "May God continue to bless America"? That is the same as members of the Ku Klux Klan going to church after hanging a black man the night before. It is hypocrisy to say the least. But then, our government is run by hypocrites anyway.
Would God bless a nation that has high murder, rape, robbery, assault, and other crime rates?
Would God continue to bless us for our discrimination against minorities, women, and so many others that has been going on since before the Declaration of Independence was even signed? What would God say to a system of justice that jails people like Martin Luther King, Jr. for the "crime" of wanting equality for all people?
Would God help the police in arresting and dragging people like Lauren Canario through the streets for wanting to save a home from government theft known as eminent domain?
A Man without a Party
Wed, 10/29/2008 - 17:53 — katkanningTurn to the person next to you and ask them why they are voting for the person they are supporting in this election. Odds are you will hear a lot about why they are voting against the other guy, or against a man who is almost out of office. This is because most Americans are blindly aligned with one party over the other, all the while filled with disgust for the opposing party. They seek out any media that will support their skewed view of the world, and surround themselves with like-minded people. These people are no longer free thinkers. They are told what to think and when to think it, when they should be happy, and when they should be outraged.
Labor Unions
Wed, 10/29/2008 - 04:47 — katkanningI recently converted, quite rapidly, from a “progressive” to a supporter of the free market. I have been social libertarian since my political opinions began to form, but I was suspicious of the ability of the free market to create a fair and just society for a very long time. Recently, I developed an interest in reexamining free market ideas and while reading Francois Tremblay’s “But Who Will Build the Roads?” (the book reviewed in July ‘08’s issue of the Free Press), I discovered an example of free market success that essentially clinched my conversion. I’d like to share this example with other Free Press readers.
A word on Secession
Mon, 10/13/2008 - 07:04 — russellkanningHello,
I am sending you all this email in response to the email about the Secession convention. I believe in this secession movement but I believe in working as a group for common goals too. Many groups can work with us for common goals, groups such as the New England Confederation Alliance
http://www.newenglandconfederationalliance.org

and the free newhampshire movement. Once one group successfully secedes the others can follow. I like how the New Hampshire project has a thing for people to move there and I think Vermont should follow suit, but I think New Hampshire should have a petition online that everyone can sign. Like I was saying before, all these groups should sign each others documents to promote these secessions. The Vermont petition is at:

and the new hampshire one is at:
Unusual letter to the editor
Thu, 10/09/2008 - 08:19 — russellkanningWe received a unusual message from one of our readers this month. Someone filled the display area of our newspaper box in Concord with a record.

It is always interesting to get feedback, but we really prefer emails.

JoBama

What do you get when you combine the number one liberal Senator with the number three liberal Senator? "JoBama." Since the resume of Joe Bidan is so much larger that Barack Obama, Joe's name goes first. It is an upside down ticket. Since Joe Bidan has been in the Senate for over 30 years, there is no change, he is the same old liberal. JoBama is an excellent name for a rock band but it spells disaster for America.

When Joe Bidan was announced he gave a speech. In the speech he said that he is like all of us worried people who "sit around the kitchen table and wonder how we are going to pay our bills." He bragged about only having one house. It looked to me like his one house was 3 times the size of mine. I find it a bit hard to believe that Biden is worried about how he is going to pay his bills.
