An Open Letter to Politicians
Wed, 06/30/2010 - 04:39 — russellkanningby Mark R. Crovelli
Whenever revolutionary change appears in the world, whether for good or for ill, there are always certain groups of people who fail or refuse to recognize how much things have truly changed. One can find many examples of this phenomenon in the business world, when entrepreneurs who fail to appreciate new market conditions get tossed aside by their competitors before they even know what hit them. By the time they realize that they have made serious forecasting errors, it is often far too late for them to catch up. Similar examples abound in the academic and athletic worlds, where scholars and coaches who fail to appreciate radically new conditions in their disciplines or sports find themselves quickly surpassed by their rivals and colleagues.
Warmongering vs. the Sanctity of Life
Thu, 01/28/2010 - 08:31 — russellkanningPro-life Hypocrisy
Churches all across America observed Sanctity of Human Life Sunday on January 24. Literature was passed out on the evils of abortion. Sermons were preached on the sin of abortion. The 1973 Supreme Court decision in the case of Roe v. Wade was denounced. The immorality of being a doctor who performs abortions was proclaimed. The horrors of partial-birth abortion were explained. Testimonies were read of women who regretted having abortions and doctors who felt guilty in having performed them. Prayers were made on behalf of women contemplating having an abortion. Gruesome pictures of abortions gone awry were shown. Calls were made for a constitutional amendment banning abortion. Planned Parenthood was singled out for special condemnation. Yet, nary a word was said about the ongoing slaughter of innocents that is funded by the U.S. government.
The Government Thinks You are Stupid

CO2. It is, of course, the gas that humans breathe out and plants breathe in. What better scam to convince people of the need to tax the very air we breathe? Without CO2, plants cannot live and of course, without plants, humans cannot live. Some scammers like Al Gore stand to make a huge profit off of “carbon credits” (See Al Gore Could become World's First Carbon Billionaire http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/energy/6491195/Al-Gore-could-become-wor...) - the government scheme to tax all life, basically all human action.
Tsa Should be Abolished
Tue, 01/12/2010 - 05:53 — russellkanningAnother great article by Becky Akers:
"Have you ever seen a bureaucracy beg more tirelessly for abolition than the Transportation Security Administration (TSA)? For a month now, its spectacular ineptitude has hogged headlines, from the agency’s posting of its classified nonsense on the internet to its welcoming the Underwear Bomber aboard his plane."

And for comic relief please read some of the posts on the TSA blog:

When a School Gets Sick
Wed, 01/06/2010 - 06:32 — russellkanning"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away."

Helping with a Hammer
Tue, 05/05/2009 - 09:01 — russellkanningI recently received an e-mail from someone complaining that I was giving Obama a hard time, even though he was doing his best to help us all out of our current situation. The e-mail was heartfelt and sincere (though I'm not entirely sure which of my rants it was in response to). But it was an outstanding example of how the mental "lenses" most people wear guarantee their perpetual enslavement.
People from both major parties can often be heard to opine that this or that politician is "working hard" to fix the problems of society, and "doing his best" to help the people. Let's set aside their assertions that what politicians do is done out of good intentions. Though I think politicians are all lying crooks, motives can be hard to actually prove. Actions, on the other hand, are pretty easy to observe.
How Big is the Bailout?
Fri, 04/03/2009 - 07:07 — russellkanningBy Russell Kanning
Just how much money is the US Federal Government spending on its friends? The numbers are hard to come by, but the Banking Bailout began at $700 billion. CNN reference

That's a lot of B's. It is also a bundle being borrowed by the world's biggest bureaucracy (since they owe money already). As the CNN article mentions, that money was given to big banks, but 700 Billion Bucks is almost enough to buy every one of the 821 publicly traded "finance sector" companies in America, based on the Wilshire 5000 index.
Feeling Empowered?
Sun, 12/28/2008 - 04:32 — russellkanningby Larken Rose
For the last couple hundred years, the White House has been occupied by white males. Well, this may come as a shock to some of you, but despite the fact that I'm also white and also male, having tyrants in power who share those traits doesn't make me feel empowered. They may look a little like me, but they are NOT like me. I love freedom, they love to dominate people, and that's a pretty important difference.

Now we're all being treated to the pathetic spectacle of millions of Americans emotionally rejoicing, as if the Second Coming is taking place, because at last a BLACK man has been elected President. I hate to burst their delusional bubble, but they will soon learn, the hard way, that the color of the tyrant who has his boot on your throat doesn't really matter after all.
Obama Wins - Liberty Loses

Oh the fool we play when we fail to heed the warnings of history. For those of us who study Biblical Theology, Philosophy, and History, there is a voice that shouts from the roof top. It is a voice that cries warning in a city filled with people, and yet the city is so clouded with false voices that the inhabitants cannot hear.

Commentary on the Burning of the United States Flag
Thu, 11/06/2008 - 11:12 — katkanningBy Kat Kanning
I have to admit that I was somewhat ambivalent about this event. This was not out of some hidden reverence for the symbol of the US, but because I knew I was “gonna get it” from my mom over this one. My mother, she doesn't like the current US government any more than the Freestaters do, but she does love the principles this country was founded on – a country that respects the God-given rights of the people, with its government severely limited by the Constitution.
This country became a great place because, for a period of time, the government mostly left people alone. When the fetters were removed, the little guy was free to produce, to create, to make a good life for himself and his family. And that's just what a lot of little guys did with their freedom, making this the most prosperous nation in history. It was a beautiful thing.
It is gone now.
