Two Activists Arrested in Manchester for a 420 Celebration
Tue, 01/19/2010 - 04:22 — katkanningBy Joe Skinner

Saturday January 16th 2010 was an unseasonably warm day in the New Hampshire region. Because of this my roommate Mike and I figured it would be a perfect day to go, live free and hold an impromptu 420 celebration at Veteran’s Park in downtown Manchester. Celebrations like the one we were planning that morning were held throughout the late summer and fall in both Keene and Manchester, NH. These celebrations, in which the participants partake in the public and open consumption of cannabis, were left completely unmolested in every instance of them occurring in the Manchester area. That is until that Saturday in January.
Radicals try to wall in Federal Compound in Concord
Fri, 01/15/2010 - 22:03 — russellkanningA small group of anti-Fed activists attempted to barricade the Federal employees into their own compound in central Concord, New Hampshire on Saturday January 9th, 2010. They held signs explaining some of their problems with the U.S. government. They said the wall was to protect the people from the thugs and spouted extreme left and right wing slogans like "End the War" and "Taxation is Theft".

They began constructing a siege wall surrounding the Fed Compound. The wall consists mainly of large granite blocks originally installed to protect the U.S. government outpost. The gaps were being filled with ice and snow. The construction workers got particular pleasure trapping the Federales behind a wall of their own making.

Walking from my house in Nashua to Bank of America on Main St. I was stopped by Nashua PD who noticed my OC (Open Carry) firearm. He demanded my ID which I informed him I was not carrying. I explained I did not consent to being detained and asked if I was free to go. Officer Geoff Raby (email is rabyg@nashuapd.com) stopped me at the corner of Pearl & Temple.
He explained that I was not being detained under suspicion of any crime, but because I was OC. I replied again that I did not consent to being detained and he indicated that I was not free to go. Knowing NH has a draconian stop and identify statute, I opted to cooperate as required and provided my name and address (only stating Nashua, not providing my street address).
No Victim, No Crime

Mike Barskey was tried today on a number of charges stemming from one late-night traffic stop . The charges were speeding, having an open container in his car, driving an unregistered car, not obtaining a New Hampshire driver's license, and having a handgun in his car without a permit. Two were dropped at the beginning of the trial – the open container and driver's license charges.

Prior to the start of the trial, Jesse “The Hat” Maloney began to file a motion to wear his hat into court. Before he completed the motion, he was told it would be allowed. So three of the 26 Freestaters present wore hats into the courtroom, unmolested, and without it disturbing the court proceedings.
Dave Ridley continues outlaw behavior on May 25th, 2008
Wed, 05/21/2008 - 17:01 — russellkanningOn Sunday, May 25, 2008, I will commit two illegal acts in downtown Manchester. I'll perform a wholesome puppet show for profit without a license, violating state law RSA 286:1. And I'll hire a homeless person (if any are available) to stand next to me with a collections cup. I'll pay her $6.00 an hour. This will violate RSA 279, the new statute which mandates a $6.50 minimum wage.
I'm protesting New Hampshire politicians' perverse enthusiasm for passing, and maintaining, unneeded laws...five million words of state laws at last count. And I'm checking to see how much stomach the authorities have for using force to impose these laws.

Outlaw Puppeteering April 30th
Thu, 04/17/2008 - 15:56 — katkanningDear folks at the Free Press:
Somewhere between 12:00 and 12:30 p.m. on April 23, (Note: This event has been delayed to April 30th.) I intend to commit an illegal act in Concord. I will hold a puppet show, for profit, without government permission. The show will be wholesome and unobtrusive. But it will violate RSA 286:1.* Hopefully this will draw some small attention to the neglected importance of repealing unneeded laws.
Earlier this year, the State House overwhelmingly voted down HB1347, a bill aimed at removing obsolete statutes. There were problems with the bill's wording, but the fact remains Concord has declined to eliminate dozens, maybe thousands, of senseless laws which clutter our books at best...and endanger our freedoms at worst. It's illegal to pick up seaweed off the beach.** It's illegal to clean litter off the White Mountains without a permit.*** And, of course, it's illegal to grow hemp for even for the most constructive of purposes.
